Banff National Park
Banff National Park — February 2025
First winter trip to Banff. Just a few cold days, a rental car, and a weather app very happy to say “-20°C feels like -27°C”.
Most of the time it was just grey and cold, very Canada style. Then the clouds moved and suddenly you got this:

Snow on the slopes, frozen river, blue sky pretending it’s warm. We stopped the car, stepped out, questioned our clothing choices, took the photo, then ran back in.

Morning light in Banff is soft if you stay inside and very sharp if you go outside. Coffee, heater, mountains slowly getting light outside the window.

We kept plans simple: short walks on frozen paths, quick stops at viewpoints until the wind said “okay, enough”, and only testing the ice after watching locals do it first.
